ust wanted to pass along that I found out yesterday that they have changed the release date for “Cirque du Freak”. It’s now OCTOBER 23, 2009. They’ve also changed the name. It’s now called “The Vampire’s Assistant“, which, for those of you who have read the books, is the title of the 2nd book in the series. I’m really excited about the new release date!! I always thought it would be a great movie to come out around Halloween. When I get any more/new info I’ll let you know.
‘Cirque du Freak’ gets a new release date, new title

Cirque du Freak,” the big-budget vampire fantasy-adventure that is based on the books by Darren Shan and that was shot in New Orleans over several weeks in spring 2008, has a new name and a new release date, Universal Pictures announced today (July 14).
Now dubbed “The Vampire’s Assistant” — the title of the second book in Shan’s 12-volume “The Saga of Darren Shan” (the first being “Cirque du Freak”) — it is set for wide release on Oct. 23, a Universal spokeswoman said.
It had previously been tentatively scheduled for a January 2010 release.
The movie is based on the first three books in Shan’s saga, which is divided into four three-book cycles. With big-studio backing and a budget said to have exceeded $80 million, the movie stars Salma Hayek, John C. Reilly, Willem Dafoe, Ken Watanabe and Josh Hutcherson in a story about a young boy who, after visiting a decidedly dark freak show, is drawn into the world of vampires.
Paul Weitz directs.

Message from Josh: Happy Father’s Day to My Dad
by Sam on June 21st, 2009 • 3 Comments • in Uncategorized
Thought it would be nice to say Happy Father’s Day to my dad. He’s an awesome guy. We’re getting ready to head to the golf course in a few. Our family went to Gatlinburg last weekend for a few days. We rented a cabin with some friends and family and had a blast. It’s so much fun down there. It was crazy because at Dollywood (it’s an amusement park owned by Dolly Parton) there’s actually a “Journey to the Center of the Earth” 4D ride! That was crazy!!! Anyway, this weekend we went to a couple of Red’s games, one of them was the MLB Civil Rights game. So, we went to a luncheon that afternoon that was for the Beacon Awards. It was the best luncheon I’ve ever been to! Former President Bill Clinton was the speaker and that was so AMAZING! He gave a great speech. The other cool thing was that the award winners were Bill Cosby, Hank Aaron and Mohammed Ali!! They were ALL THERE!!! Bill Cosby has to be the funniest person on the planet. Anyway, we had a great time. I’m heading back to L.A. in a couple of days. AND, I’m starting a new movie next week. More details to come….. Take care!
